Funny Weekend!

A typical Saturday morning at my house involves me (Jessica.. go figure..) sleeping in until 8:30-9AM, and then jumping right into cleaning, but not until I have got the coffee pumping through my body. Thank the Lord to coffee.. seriously.. and coffee mate for that matter! So with my magic eraser in hand, clothes in the wash, carpet powder on the ground awaiting a vacuum, and soap scrub all over the counters I got a phone call. (Just in case you are wondering if I am OCD about cleaning.. I'm not... I just really value a clean house clean house). I think this concept was instilled since birth from my mom, and then reinforced at Harding with bi-weekly house cleaning checks. Crazy thing is that guys didn't have those.. another story for another day!!!

Back to the phone call... (my stomach always jumps when I hear that bc I think the worst.. but this was good)

It was my husband who was spending his Saturday at drill (Army Reserves). He had an idea. He really wanted me to drive up for the night. He has mentioned this more than once.. so like the good wife I am ... I agreed. Around 3, I had finally gotten the house cleaned.. Father's Day gift in the mail (I know, I know... ) and I was ready to Rock and Roll outttt.

I arrived in great time and since Ryan was still busy I decided to go in the PX (wondering why it wasn't the BX.. I later found out its an Army Post not a Airforce Base.. ahh). I wondered around like a lost puppy dog wondering why they had to see my Army ID when I just showed it to get on base. At least its secure!! Next, Ryan finished and we went to get our room assignment.

Turns out he has a 2 person room with a possible roomate coming. Sweet.. now I can drive home.. :(

He assured me there would probaly not me a roomate assigned and he could let me stay. I was a little nervous about the idea, but what can you do, we left for dinner. We took the scenic route on accident, but we made it. After dinner we returned back to base to find no roomie.

So I stayed. There were 2 twin beds.. So we did what logical newlyweds do and slept in one.

Uncomfortable. But together.

At 4AM after waking up and turning every 30 min. an alarm sounded. I was sure it was terroist. Turns out the building next to us had a fire alarm go off. Good thing it wasn't us since I probably wasn't suppose to stay!!

A couple hours later Ryan left to report to duty and I hunkered down nervous to use my blowdryer.. bc I mean what soilder uses a blowdryer. I got ready and went to church at Shandon Baptist. This seems like a huge but great church. I started to have flashbacks of visiting churches by myself, yet enjoyed getting to worship with a new community of believers.

Visiting churches by yourself is quite an interesting thing. Maybe I'll write a book on it oneday (or a blog)... Not that I enjoy the process by myself.. quite the opposite!

After church I headed to McD's drive through to get my favorite cheeseburger happy meal and diet coke. Then I headed homeward.

All in all I had a great time visting with Ryan. It makes me laugh thinking of our little adventure! Good times and more praises to add to our new praise journal for not having a midnight roomie arrive or a terroist attack!!!

I realize you may be thinking.. why did she just write paragraphs about a random weekend.. weird.. I know.. and I've been asking myself the same question the entire time. I found it funny. You may just be confused. Like a joke where no one laughs, or an awkward silence. If so.. I'm sorry. Just laugh at something else!!

Random thoughts

Hello bloggers..

I am sitting at our computer desk fully satisfied from a yummy dinner (even if I do say so myself). We made chicken kabobs with pineapple/coconut rice. Suprisingly, it was pretty stinkin good!! My favorite thing about the evening is to have a night free with Ryan. An evening that may be spent chatting, blogging, or watching PBS on our 4 blurry channels! Hmm maybe I can convice Ryan to hold the bunny ears next to the T.V during Grey's Anatomy. I mean clearly every husband wants to stand during an entire show to keep a T.V. screen clear, right?!I'll let you know how that works out!!

Ryan is plowing away with summer school, I'm taking and editing pictures on free nights, and just staying plain busy. I can't believe we are coming up on the end of June.

Time is surely flying. Oh, with time going by comes the need for God to answer prayers and solidify plans. Last night my loving husband reminded me of my need to cling to

Philippians 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

...easier said than done right! It's in those times I'm reminded just how BIG God is and how SMALL I am......and how his power calmed a storm, multiplied a little boy's lunch to feed 5,000, drove out demons, turned water into wine, heals mom's with cancer, brings broken relationships back together, and still actively works things out in my small little Charleston, South Carolina world. So whether my worry is as fleeting as a broken nail, or the logistics of moving 3,000 miles cross country. God knows and wants me to trust him because he has already worked it out.

What a relief to know that kind of peace!!

Knees to the earth

I love the lyrics of this song. It is by Watermark. Enjoy!

Wonderful Savior
My heart belongs to Thee
I will remember always the blood You shed for me
Wonderful Savior
My heart will know Your worth
So I will embrace You always as I walk this earth

Be blessed, be loved, be lifted high
Be treasured here
Be glorified
I owe my life to You my Lord
Here I am....

Beautiful Jesus
How may I bless Your heart?
Knees to the earth I bow down to everything You are
Beautiful Jesus
You are my only worth
So let me embrace You always as I walk this earth
