an evening on the farm

As fall begins to wrap up with a crazy amount of leaves in my yard, I'm soaking in the last of a beautiful season.  Basically the only change I really love is seasonal so I am beginning to get the itch for winter and that definitely makes me hope for a little snow.  Of course just enough to cancel work for Ryan and play a bit!  I'm a southerner, after all.

The other evening we headed to a local farm to let the kids run wild.  I'm sure the Dixie Chicks and their Wide Open Spaces were playing somewhere out there, but I was too busy chasing these kiddos to hear them.  It was a good time and we all slept well.  I mean, not perfect, as in my life is a storybook (I actually saw a black widow and broke out in a full sprint chasing Maeve) but just a good time being a little family.

Anyways, I grabbed ancient my camera, hoped the battery wouldn't die and tried to snap a few action shots.  I seriously don't see how you photographers do this.. my hat is off!  A good time was had by all.

And in case you are wondering what we were up to about 6 years ago... it looks strangely similar to our engagement pictures.  I probably needed that reminder today of how good the Lord has been to us in the past 6 years.

Celebrating the Moores

My parents celebrated 40 years of marriage September 1st.  With nearly 40 years of marriage and over 35 in ministry we have been so blessed to see the gospel demonstrated daily in their lives.  Seriously, I could go on and on but these two are SUCH a gift.  My parents are the best.

My Dad would literally give someone the shirt off his back and I've seen that demonstrated over and over in tangible ways.  He's a classic introvert that comes alive when he preaches.  He bears the burdens of his church and is as loyal as they come.  I've seen him minister in joy and great sorrow to his flock.  He truly is a shepherd. If I'm ever having a rough day talking to my Dad can make me burst in to tears like no one else I've ever met.  He's just so stinkin' compassionate and caring to his girls.

My Mom is the sweetest most typical meek and precious pastor's wife you will ever meet.  She's quiet but a barrel of fun.  At almost 60, she goes yearly on a mission trip to Peru and is passionate about furthering the gospel.  She works tirelessly to fund this throughout the year with bake sales, yard sales, etc etc.  She's a preschool teacher and has this beauty about her that is timeless.  I know that before I wake up in the morning, she's already prayed for me.  She is always so sweet to talk to me each day.

Although I dream of one day living in the same town as my parents, I am so grateful to be so close to them (in comparison to 3,000 miles).  Our family is not perfect, but we are surely better because of these two.  It was a no brainer to do something lasting for their 40th anniversary.  The sisters surprised my parents (with short notice) with a photography shoot by a friend and amazing photographer.  Charleston will be sad to see her and her cute family move out west!

Happy Anniversary... here's to 40 more! :)

Maeve is 18 months

Maybe I should reintroduce myself.  I'm Jessica.  I once blogged updates about our life and then I had a second child and started to fall off the bandwagon of the blogs.  However, I have recently thought it's time to get back on the horse.  Maybe it's the guilt that Maeve has far less updates to put in a baby book, or maybe I just wanna, but I'm hoping to be more committed.

Maeve is 18 months.  See that cutie below.  She is a ham and we couldn't possibly love her or her brother more.  That pic was taken my a college friend who happens to be an amazing blogger/photographer, Carissa.  (It was uploaded from my phone so a little different straight from the source).

So here's some info about our girl.  Maeve is ALL girl.  She loves her bow-bow, sleeps with her Minnie always, and I feel confident her fav person is me her bubba.  She also really likes men that she doesn't know particularly well.  Lovely right?!

Maeve would prefer to wear her Minnie Mouse pjs all day everyday.  In the pic below, she went and found them and was crying to wear them.  Sometimes she wins.

Maeve is pensive at times, talkative, and loves to dance when she hears the slightest beat.  She also has a stink eye that can make anyone feel awkward.  Basically, you know where you stand with her.  There's her Minnie lovey below and yes, we have 2.

She likes necklaces and can be found climbing up my closet shelves to get into my jewelry.  See.. all girl I tell ya!  Notice her high heels below.  She prefers to be shirtless as well, but with jewelry.  Thankfully I only have 1 pc of jewelry costing more than $15.  It's never taken off my hand! ;)

I am grateful my kids love to be outside.  I will never ever take the gift of being outside all 4 seasons for granted in NC.  She has recently began asking to go "outdide." Park days are good for our soul!

Maeve, You are a petite little 22 lb bundle of joy.  You light up our days and have taken sleep from our nights.  You make me laugh when you "shake shake" and your love for cuddling makes my heart happy.  You have spunk and can hold your own.  You are truly the "one who brings joy (Maeve)."  I love you sweet girl.

update from the epp fam

So basically I have kept waiting for life to slow down.  It hasn't.  I would feel sorry for our little fam but I think I've pretty much decided that's just us.  We go go go with the things with love, value and have to do and then slow down when we need to.  Somehow God's grace has chugged us along, and after all... we make time for what we value (gut check, hello).  Please forgive the random notes below and feel free to skip.. just want this more for myself! ;)

Ryan finished seminary.  Seriously, THANK YOU GOD.  I think we were both beyond over school and are enjoying days without the dreaded paper.

Titus wrapped up his first year of preschool and I finished MOPS for the year while Ryan painted the exterior of our house.  I know, crazy.  The boy has been wanting to do this for years and his biggest condition for buying was that it would be paintable.  I am loving it!!

As soon as the big project was done we packed up and spent the week at a family reunion.  We were in NC for this reunion and beyond grateful to spend time with Ryan's family on the beach.  There were a total of 24 people in a gigantic house with a pool.

Since we have been back Ryan will be traveling two times for two separate family deaths.  Our hearts have been so heavy at the loss of our sis-in-laws father and now Ryan's grandma.  We are so thankful that these precious people are now in the presence of their Lord and Savior.  What a beautiful eternal hope we have!

My summer days are consisting of working out, and lots of playing with the kids.  We are loving the pool this summer and my goal this summer is just to be present and engaged.  Laundry can go, let's just have fun with picnics, pool and parks.  I am developing a love for hot days followed by fun meals.  My enjoyment for healthy cooking is slowly developing into a passion!  I'm excited!

1 year

Maeve,

YOU ARE ONE!!!  Happy Birthday sweet girl.  You have been a complete joy and delight to us this past year and I feel so incredibly blessed to be your mama.

Each time I drive by the hospital I had you at I stop and dream a little about the day we first met.  Somehow and somewhere in my sleep deprived mind, I remember it to be like a little vacation with your Dad and you.  Yes, I was on heavy medicine so the memory of laying in a bed after surgery may have been lost somewhere.  Really, I just remember your fresh little eyes just entering the world and that, my girl, is a treasure.

But now you've grown and move around, laugh and play.  You are quickly becoming a little girl that dances when she hears music or calls for us to come get her.  You are learning to walk and watching you tremble to take your first steps makes me think some days I'm right there with ya.  You give sweet smooches and have your little Minnie lovey tucked under your arm most of the day.

You love your brother and try to sneak off on adventures to the bathroom and stairs with him.  You love to have your teeth brushed and can't help but giggle before I start.  You even have a skill to get some baby plug covers off in our house.  You are observant and shy, but smiley too.

I have loved dressing you in little girly outfits and putting big bows in your hair.  It's really be fun for my girly heart.  You usually sleep through the night and take 11/2 naps a day.  Sometimes just one.  We celebrated your big day with friends and family at a park in Charleston.  We picked some favorite colors and went with that as a
theme.

I pray this next year is a growing and thriving year.  I pray that as God shapes you that you will come to know and love him.  I pray that your Dad and I will be the forerunners in your relationship with God and will model a love for him in our family.

Happy Birthday you 17 lbs 15 oz/16th percentile little sweetness.  Your mama sure does LOVE you!

10 and 11 months with Maeve

Its hard to believe our sweet pea is just a few weeks shy of a year.  This past year has zipped by!!  Maeve is the sweetest little miss and I love being her mommy!  As with the 2nd... there are less pictures and less updates but the overwhelming love is the same!  Maeve has been such a delight and joy to our family, it's hard for me to imagine what life was like without her!

At 10 months Maeve...

- got tubes for endless ear infections... and Maeve became more chatty... on the ride home!
-  decided formula was not the worst thing ever.
- ate avocados like they were going out of style.  This makes me so happy to see my kids eat these!
- began crawling on those knees.  She has army crawled since 7 months and I thought she would never switch to up on her knees.. but she did.
-  continues to nod to questions.. cutest thing ever.
-  follows Titus around and thinks he's the best thing ever (ok, we all do).
-  started showing off her dancing.  She does a mix between a head bob and body glide.  It melts my heart.
-  began pulling up on everything and can walk some with her push toy.
-  Is around 16.9 lbs.
-  still has 2 little teeth.
-  waves

At 11 months Maeve....

-  began not waking up for a bottle around 10 to 11 and started sleeping 12 hours.  Not all the time but more consistently.  We are late on all this but finally did some sleep training.
-  moves constantly.  She is a happy little thing to explore around with her toys but loves to put everything in her mouth and likes to quietly sneak to the bathroom or stairs.  She has to be watched 24/7
-  continues to love to play with Titus.  He is really a good big bro to her.
-  has food opinions and loves to wave her hand no in front of her face or shake her head no.
-  learned to give kisses.  OH MY... this is my fav! She even makes the sound MMMAHHH.
-  calls Mama, Dada, Bubba, and sometimes TyTy (or something that sounds similar)
-  is around 17.9 lbs.
-  typically takes 2 naps a day but we often miss one being out and about.
-  is a snuggler.  She is in full on cry when left mode.  I love my little attached baby!
-  hung out with her first non-family sitter.  It was so fun to have a date with friends but we missed our babes!
-  loves pasta, green beans, avocado and squeezy fruit.
-  melts our heart.  Ryan says every time he looks at her little smile he wants to cry.  THE GIRL has her daddy wrapped tight.  Us all, really.

We love you Maevey girl, smoochy pants, lovey, Mae Mae! :)

4 Matey!!

It's hard to believe Maeve is just a month away from 1 (updates coming) and Titus is NOW 4!!!!

Sunday night I went into my little guy's room and snuggled him a little extra.  It was hard to believe that it was his last night to be 3!  We celebrated and celebrated this little guy!  Last year we had a family party here in NC so this year was the year to have a bash!

We celebrated pirate style complete with mustaches.  Including babies, parents and kiddos, our house was full with 40 people!!  Our little man was shining all day!! We played and searched for hidden treasures that led us to a pinata (Titus calls it a peeata).

Titus is a BUSY boy.  He loves all things superhero, sports, and Army (go figure).  He is independent and likes to be in charge weighing in at 34ish lbs.  He def has a similar build to Ryan.  Although he is super active and busy, he loves to snuggle and would prefer to sleep in our bed every night (although he has yet to sleep with both of us at the same time).  This past year has required a lot of patience on my part and consistency.  At times, I've really failed but I can really see the fruit when we have a daily plan.  He loves his little sis so much (sometimes too much) and I am grateful for the sweet little relationship that is forming.

Titus is growing in his understanding of God and I look forward to the conversations we will have in the next year.  He is a gift to his Dad and I am I pray that God will use him mightily for his kingdom!
